PART 1 - SOUTHERN SPAIN

June 1-June 7, 2010

Spend 7 nights in Monforte d’Alba exploring great Barolo wines and Grappa, cooking classes and truffle hunting, hazelnuts, chocolate, and cheese making deep in the countryside of the Piedmont. Contratto Day 1 / June 1st, Monday

For our first amazing stop we visit Contratto, a historical monument and wine cellar, now declared a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. A welcome aperitif and a fabulous Piemonte wine dinner and wine pairing await us this evening! Get settled in for a great week. (B,D)

Cooking Class Day 2 / June 2nd Tuesday

There is time to relax this morning, then we get to participate in a home-spun cooking class preparing our delicious lunch, making a full 4-course typical Piemontese meal. While lunch is cooking we get a tour of the historic Cantina of our cooking class host family, then enjoy the meal together. (B,L)

Asti Day 3 / June 3rd Wednesday

Today is a sweet one, as we visit the special city of Asti. We will tour a nougat producer where they make the traditional candy of Piemonte, and learn how Grappa is made at Rovero’s. We enjoy a grappa tasting at the farm with a big lunch and an in-depth lesson on their fascinating honey bee production. This evening explore Monforte D’Alba as you like. (B,L)

Barolo Day 4 / June 4th Thursday

This morning we hike out from our hotel through beautiful Barolo wine country. (Options are available for those not interested in hiking.) We will all meet at Podere Ruggeri after lunch for a wine tasting before our spectacular dinner, near our estate. (B,D)

Turin Day 5 / June 5th Friday

We are off to Turin to see 2nd largest the Egyptian museum in the world! There will be time to visit the historic center and taste some pastries from the area before enjoy a walking tour of this elegant city oozing with charm. The FIAT museum visit is spectacular this afternoon. We head home for dinner and a paired wine tasting. (B,D)

Truffles Day 6 / June 6th Saturday

This morning we get to experience a truffle hunt with trained truffle-sniffing dogs. We have a the unique opportunity to taste this delicacy in different dishes and you will never be the same. For lunch we will visit a family vineyard and dine al fresco, in the orchard. (B,L)

Wine and Mill Day 7 / June 7 Sunday

We get to visit La Spinatta winery, and enjoy a special tasting in their barrel room. Lunch is a wonderful spread of traditional foods, including salumi, cheeses, fritatta, focaccia and more. Once sated we will head over to Mulino Marino and visit the ancient mill that is still milling stone ground flours and rice. (B,L)

Day 8 / June 8 Monday

Today we say arrivaderci and arrange for your transfers to Milano, with an early departure after breakfast.

PART 2 - PIEMONTE

June 1-June 7, 2010

There will be plenty of things to do, or not do, during our stay. For example, you
may choose to include optional hikes with fabulous views through Barolo wine
country and Canelli, and mountain bikes are also available.

Our trips are authentic journeys through Italy, with small and intimate
groups. We have a travel agent who can help you arrange your flights.

TRIP DETAILS, NOTES & POLICIES

  • One private transfer is provided from Madrid to Cordoba for Southern
    Spain tour. Transfers to Seville airport are included after the tour. The tour
    ends on the morning of June 1st.
  •  The transfer from Madrid to Cordoba departs at noon from the Madrid
    airport or train station. The transfer from Milano to our estate in the
    Piedmont region departs at 11 AM on June 1st from Hotel Bern, or aiport.
    * One private transfer is proved for Milan to Piemonte for Piemonte tour.
    Transfers to Milan airport are included after the tour. The tour ends on the
    morning of June 8th.
  •  In the unlikely event that some outings may change, replacements
    will be of equal quality.
  • We recommend that you fly into into Madrid and out of Seville, and into
    Milano and out of Milano. For those wishing to partake in both tours, you
    would fly into Madrid and out of Milano.

  • Airfare between Seville and Milano for those doing both tours.
  • Everything listed in the itinerary while we are with Doumina
  • Lodging in lovely accommodations, each w/private bath.

  • Airfare to and from the tour (though it DOES include airfare Spain to Italy,

  • Single Supplement Fee (If requested, $1675.00 USD) this means a person is
    unwilling to share a room, if traveling alone.
  • Occasional supplemental meals on your own
  • Travel for personal errands/meals/shopping while on the tour.

  •  Maximum occupancy is 18 people. Only a deposit will hold your place.

PAYMENT & REFUND POLICIES

  •  A non-refundable deposit of USD $1,200.00 required upon booking, for each tour
  •  Final payment due 180 days prior to departure.
  •  100% refund (except deposit) for cancellation 175 days prior to departure.
  •  50% refund (except deposit) for cancellation 90-174 days prior to departure.
  •  25% refund (except deposit) up to and not beyond 60 days prior to departure

Travel insurance is recommended, though not obligatory, with each booking.
